Ghost Imaging and Flow-Insensitive Unenhanced MRA

چکیده
Peripheral vascular disease (PVD) has an age-adjusted prevalence of 12% in the United States, causes significant morbidity and is associated with excess cardiovascular mortality. Contrastenhanced magnetic resonance angiography (CE-MRA) often substitutes for the more invasive ―gold standard‖ procedure of digital subtraction angiography (DSA). Given the frequency of renal functional impairment in patients with PVD and concerns about nephrogenic systemic fibrosis (NSF), there is growing interest in unenhanced MRA. 4 ,5

Unenhanced 3D Ghost MR Angiography by Toggled Systolic and Diastolic Imaging
Introduction: Ghost magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) is a new method for angiography that suppresses background tissue without subtraction. The method is predicated on the creation of arterial ghost artifacts within a region containing no MR signal (e.g. air), and can be used for both unenhanced and contrast-enhanced MRA. When used for unenhanced MRA, cardiac gating is not required. This ca...

Introduction Given the frequency of renal functional impairment in patients with peripheral vascular disease (PVD) and concerns about nephrogenic systemic fibrosis, there is growing interest in unenhanced MRA (1,2). While promising, existing unenhanced MRA methods suffer from limitations that preclude robust clinical application for PVD. An ideal unenhanced method should be fast, easy to use, a...
متن کاملUnsupervised Reconstruction for Ungated Ghost Angiography by Clustering of Image Features
Introduction: Ghost magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) has been proposed as an unenhanced and ungated method for angiography that is based on the presence of ghost artifacts resulting from pulsatile blood flow (1). Although the method is simple to acquire in that cardiac gating is not required, it requires manual post-processing to identify suitable slices in a large stack from which to creat...
متن کاملThe Essence of Half-FOV Shift Ghost Imaging
Introduction: Ghost imaging and especially its applications to MR angiography (MRA) have been proposed as an improvement over the conventional magnitude subtraction based imaging methods, such as Fresh Blood Imaging (FBI) [1]. There are basically two types of ghost MRA; type I and II. Type I is usually performed without gating, by summing outside the body ghost artifacts created from uncontroll...
متن کاملOn the Amenability of Ghost Imaging to Large Parallel Acceleration Factors
Introduction Ghost imaging is a newly proposed methodology for magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) that eliminates the need for image subtraction. Using a 3D pulse sequence that acquires slices outside of the body, the method works by modulating arterial signal to produce ghost artifacts. Arterial ghost artifacts localizing in air outside of the body are then processed and viewed along multipl...
